Owed To A SpellChequer

Eye halve a spell in chequer;
It came with my pea sea;
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it to say
Weather eye am wrong oar write -
It shows me strait aweigh.
As soon as a mist ache is maid
it nose bee fore two long,
and eye can put the error rite
its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye have run this poem threw it;
I am shore your pleased two no
its letter-perfect awl the weigh,
my chequer tolled me sew.

When I taught freshman composition, I had a student who I'd BEG to use spell checker. She'd turn in words with semicolons in the middle of them!

It was the only time I asked someone to do that. Usually, I tell them to consult a dictionary.

The story doesn't have a happy ending. I had to fail her, according to the rules of the program, even though she was actually a very good writer.
